About the artistMoonchild (also known as Mr. M.C. Straver) was born in Roosendaal, the Netherlands. Now being in his 30's, he has gained a lot of experience in life in general, and in art in particular. Even though there is no record of ever having attended art courses in an academy, the images prove that a self-tought skill, when having the right mettle to start with, can be just as good without classes; and even more so, not being forced into a set "way of working" gives an artist a greater freedom to choose their method. This skill is appreciated by other artists in the community, to such a degree even that other artists have given their written permission to have their line-art used as a basis for collaborative works, and to allow the final result be used commercially by Moonchild, with either shared or sole copyright. Some of these collaborative works are offered here, on this site, in limited editions. Always having had a love for nature, wolves in particular, and a fascination for werewolves, Moonchild took this as the topic for most of his works. And not just the general style that Hollywood dictates either, because werewolves (man-wolves) don't have to be the bloodthirsty mindless monsters that are a long-time favourite for those kinds of flics. Instead, what if one views them as natural beings, warriors perhaps, or wise men, with an innate knowledge and understanding of the natural world? Being a wanderer, world-wise, and having travelled and lived around the globe, the wealth of impressions speak in his art; aiming for the more realistic look, in well-lit compositions with painted, rendered or photographed backgrounds that are drawn from memory as much as inspiration. Today, he lives in northern Europe again, and offers you a glimpse of a world as it could have been too...
